The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the electrical engineering sector to continue growing, primarily due to the rapid pace of technological innovation and increasing energy requirements. However, inflating tuition expenses pose a significant, real-world barrier to students pursuing a high-quality education. To mitigate this problem, the Foundation of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) was established to support scholarly achievement. The AEE has supported more than 1,200 undergraduate and graduate students since its inception in 1981, distributing scholarships totaling over $650,000 to date. According to a study published in the Wall Street Journal, the average debt levels for 2014 college graduates were approximately $33,000 - twice the amount student debtors borrowed 20 years ago.
